2015! It’s here and, as any good personal finance bloggers, we clearly have some financial resolutions ready.
Last year, knowing I was expecting a baby, my resolutions weren’t too high. I was right to keep my expectations lower, since caring for a new baby and also trying to manage a home based business weren’t too easy to tackle. Even so, 2014 proved to be a great year for us. While my business income was at about 75% of the revenue I earned the previous year, husband’s business actually picked up nicely and he was able to help support our family.
For this new year, I don’t expect my business to boom, my baby (who’ll soon be a toddler) won’t instantly become a self-sustaining adult, but business is slowly recovering as I get some more time to work. So, without too many other ‘distractions’ here is how I’d like my financial resolutions to turn out this year:
Web Design Business
As you probably know, I run a small home based web design business. It’s been 13 years since I started a martial arts web site and got hooked with everything graphic and web design. Passion and thousands of work hours turned it into a real business. I am now providing web design services to people from all over the world at very affordable prices (I live in Romania, so the dollar here is ‘bigger’ :)).
Financial resolution for my web design business: break the 20K for this year, which won’t be easy, since I cannot work 8 hours/day as I used to. Anyway .. even getting close to this would allow me and my family to be able to afford a decent living.
Premium Logos and Templates Store
Anyone who’s done some reading on personal finance will tell you that selling your time is really cool, but it’s even better to get some passive income. Most of my income right now comes from my web design business (working with my clients) and also advertising revenue on my blogs. But all these mean I have to actually work quite often and vacations usually mean a loss in income.
Enter my premium logos and templates store.
I plan on adding there new designs as soon as I can make them: logos, business card designs, Bootstrap responsive landing pages, Photoshop templates etc. They are original and carefully designed, the prices are very low ($5, $10 etc.) and, most importantly, people who purchase them can use them on unlimited projects.
Let’s say I hate the idea of policing who’s using my designs in more than one place, not to mention it’s annoying for a buyer to have to purchase the same thing multiple times. So, everything you buy, is yours to use and have fun with it.
Since it would be better to work on something people might actually need, you can drop me a line here or on www.superiorwd.com with an idea of something you need (logo, business card, template). I can create it and, if you like it, you can buy it from the store, if not … no harm done, you have no obligations. If you’d like exclusive designs (meaning only you will use them), we can also arrange this, but it’s clearly not a 10 bucks deal.
Financial resolution for my premium templates store: get $100/month this year. I know it sounds very little, but I’d be pleased to earn a bit over a grand from my small store in its first year, provided I have absolutely no budget to promote and the competition is fierce.
Personal Finance Blog
.. meaning this one.
It’s just starting and very small, as you can see. My plan is to keep on actively blogging and promoting, while trying to establish a better traffic and maybe get a nice Google PR.
My financial resolution for PFToday.com – consistently earn $100/month from advertising. I’d also like to have about 1000 visitors/day at the end of the year.
Not an easy task, let me tell you
